Closing costs

The price is the price. Then there's closing.

Closing costs are the fees you pay to finish a loan. On a house they run 2 to 5% of the loan. On a graphics card, we've found a way to make it nearly half.

What it costs to close

On our standard loan ($9,000 card, $1,800 down, 30-Year Fixed Frame Rate), the closing costs come to $2,983.50. That's before your down payment. Your Loan Estimate itemizes every cent.

Where the money goes

Origination

Application and underwriting

The application fee covers the cost of telling you that you're approved. Underwriting is one shake of our Chief Risk Officer, a Magic 8-Ball. Two shakes if it says "Reply hazy, try again".

Discount points

Pay a little up front to lower your rate. Each point costs 1% of the loan and takes 0.25% off your APR. It does nothing to your frame rate, which is locked at 30.

Required

Appraisal

A licensed appraiser runs 3DMark Time Spy on the card, writes down the number, and then stares at it for a while. The stare is billed separately.

Required

Title insurance

Protects us both if someone turns up with an older receipt for your card.

Survey

Government

Recording fee

Your unboxing must be livestreamed and archived. This fee covers the archive. The livestream is your problem.

Escrow

We collect three months of electricity up front and hold it for you, because you can't be trusted with 575 watts.

Can I lower my closing costs?

You can shop around for the services in section C of your Loan Estimate. We encourage it.

You can also ask us to roll the closing costs into the loan. That way you pay 7.49% interest on them for thirty years, which is a lot like not paying them, if you don't think about it.
